Why I love cupping therapy.

Let’s talk about cupping.

Honestly, I love cupping, and include it in most healing sessions. Not in the trendy “look at my bruises,” kind of way, but because it just works. Especially in our lives full of tension, tight shoulders, and tech neck.

Essentially, Chinese Medicine is always looking to create more free flow in the body. And cupping is simply one of the ways to reduce stagnation and allow your blood and fluids to circulate more freely.

Cupping increases circulation, regulates stagnation, and helps release tight muscles and fascial adhesions. It also feels good. Clients love it, and often request it before acupuncture. There are even some Classical Chinese acupuncture protocols that suggest doing cupping before acupuncture, because it helps the needles work more effective.

So that’s why I include cupping in most treatments, whether you’re coming in for pain, stress, or skincare support. It can help things shift quickly and gently.

And yes—there’s facial cupping too.

Facial cupping is one of my favorite manual tools for holistic skincare. Yeah, it can be relaxing…but it’s also powerful, especially when combined with luxurious hydrosols and facial oils. (My favorite facial cupping oil is Essential Lipids from Laurel Skin).

Gentle, gliding cups can lift, tone, and de-puff the face, support blood flow, and bring a healthy glow. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines, and cupping is my favorite way to support the fine lines around the forehead, lips, and neck. Plus, there’s no downtime. And yes — sometimes it can help peel away the layers to reveal your Original Face, especially if there’s fascial tension or muscle tension impeding the flow of qi and blood.

I use different types of cups for the body and face, and always tailor the technique to your constitution, your skin, and your goals.

If you’ve never tried cupping (or facial cupping), I’d love to show you how wonderful it can be.
